Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory

Our Story

Our roots run deep. We are proud of our heritage, spanning more than 155 years.

Common sense care and community support are time-honored traditions at Countryside Funeral Homes. It's a story we've been telling our families and friends for five generations. The Jaeger family began a modest undertaking business on Canal Street in Chicago as early as 1858. Please understand, though, that our vision has always been forward with a sincere desire to serve, not backward with nostalgic fondness for the past.

In 1988, Countryside Funeral Homes began both as a new brand and a new venture with the purchase of the property in Streamwood. Our plan was to build a different funeral home, one that placed the needs of a grieving family first, no matter their circumstance. We set out to develop a funeral home that was beautiful, yet comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere that would put people at ease. It would be a place where the emphasis was not on an expensive casket or strict formality, but on the needs and desires of the people that we served.

Frankly, we were thought to be idealistic by those in our profession, but we've proven that our ideas were exactly what many families wanted

With the addition of the Bartlett Chapel in 1995 and the purchase and expansion of the former Martin Funeral Home in 2001, we have grown to be one of the leading bereavement services firms in the Chicago suburbs. Along with growth comes some change. However, one thing that will never change is our commitment to those we serve.

From digital photo or video tributes to special requests such as a horse-drawn hearse or a dove release, to casual yet meaningful Celebrations of Life, you can look to Countryside to provide quality services, completely tailored to your individual needs and tastes. We're also mindful of your budget, which is always an important consideration.

Finally, Countryside Funeral Homes is the only funeral home in our region to operate its own crematory. We're able to give your family peace of mind like no other provider. Countryside personnel are present during the complete cremation procedure. We know who is in the urn. It's as personal to us as it is to you.
