Zbigniew "Ziggy" Franciszek Agolcer, 78, of Downers Grove died April 21, 2026. Ziggy was the beloved husband of Maria; loving father of Agnes (Michael) O'Malley and Andrew (Denise) Agolcer; proud grandfather of Riley (Fiancé Megan Downes) O'Malley and Mikaela O'Malley.

Born in Lviv Ukraine. Ziggy Agolcer was the youngest of three brothers. After losing both of his older siblings to war he fled with his father Franciszek to Poland.
he met his wife Maria there and they had two children. Agnes & Andrew.
Wanting a better life for his family he began his search for opportunities that Poland at that time was unable to provide.
His risk and courage eventually landed him in America. With 200.00 dollars in this pocket, No
Support & unable to speak the language he headed to Chicago.
There he found work & a polish community of immigrants that all shared the same dream.
Through hard work,
Perseverance and dedication that few men possess, He was able to reunite his family within 3 years.
In spite of his toughness,
Ziggy was a kind & gentle soul. He enjoyed the simple things in life that are often overlooked.
Listening to Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra on the radio, He loved watching family classics on Sunday nights. Fishing was his favorite activity & his most loved place to vacation was Florida.
His love, smile, laughter & unique phrasing of the English language will be missed greatly.


Visitation Friday April 24, 5:00pm - 8:00pm with a service at 6:30pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road) Bartlett. Following services cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you please consider planting a tree instead.
