Woodrow Cantrell

Woodrow (Woody) Cantrell III passed away peacefully at his Streamwood, Illinois home on January 15th, 2019. Woodrow was born on December 4th, 1960, to Woodrow and Joyce Patton Cantrell in Ashland, Kentucky. He graduated from Boyd County High School in 1978 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Navy. After a medical discharge, he soon moved to the Chicago area where he met his beloved wife Barbara.

Woody and Barb made it their habit to enjoy life to the fullest with friends, family and their Calvary Chapel family. His giving, loving nature knew no boundaries, and his praise for the Lord was evident in everything he did.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gwendolyn Elaine Cantrell and his brother, Gary Stephen Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara (nee McCann), loving brother of Woodrow Cantrell, Jr., Judith Cantrell, Stephanie (Dave) Scheid, Matthew Cantrell, sister in-law Victoria (Robert) Tillman and brother in-law George McCann. Woody will also be forever remembered by his nieces, Jacqueline (Hunter) McCormick, Amanda (Larry) Hill, goddaughter Jen (Ryan) Hornberger, Rhonda (James) Applebaum; Cassidy McCann, Michelle (Steve) Lawson; Tarra Hernandez, Kalley (Matthew) Miller and nephews Ron Cantrell, Bryant (Christina) Hernandez and many great nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his friends, many cousins in the extended Cantrell, Gibbs and Patton families.

A Memorial Visitation is planned for Saturday, February 9th, 11am – 1pm at Countryside Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (At Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg, IL 60107.

Memorial donations in memory of Woody can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
