William Brian Westering, 60, of Roselle, IL passed away on July 1, 2025. Bill was born on May 10, 1965, in Blue Island, IL to his parents William and Karen Westering.
Bill was the beloved husband of 33 years to Jennifer; devoted father of Caleb (Emily) and Tyler; proud grandpa of Jude. He was a loving brother to Pam (Chris) Boyd, Tim (Kim) Westering and Craig (Diana) Westering; much-loved son of Karen and the late William III.
Bill had a deep love for people and an even deeper love for the Lord. His faith in Christ was his anchor through all of life’s trials, especially in these last few years. Even in great pain, he would often say it was all worth it if it brought glory to God. He lived out the words of Romans 12, showing brotherly love, honoring others, and clinging to hope with joy and perseverance.
Bill was passionate about his friendships, but his most treasured relationships were with his family. He often sacrificed late nights to go stargazing or set aside time for coffee and conversation with his sons. He always prioritized planning family vacations so they could enjoy time together, making memories that will be cherished forever.
His humor, full of dad jokes and laughter that started before the punchline, brought joy to every room he entered. He especially loved retelling stories from his college days —proudly referencing his fraternity (though he never once revealed its secret handshake) and reminiscing about his time as a radio DJ, always ending with his signature line: "And now… some Journey for ya!" To this day, his family thinks of him whenever those familiar chords play. Even though he never lived in Colorado, he was well known for his wild enthusiasm for the Denver Broncos—often could be heard yelling at the TV.
He often talked about his very first job as a florist and did so with pride and fondness. He went on to build a successful 32-year career, where he was highly respected for his dedication, integrity, and work ethic. Even more than his professional life, Bill was committed to the Church, always stepping in to serve wherever needed, no matter how big or small the task. But his greatest legacy is in the kindness he extended, the laughs he shared, and the faith he modeled for his children and grandson. This legacy of love and faith will continue to live on, bearing fruit for generations to come.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave, West Chicago, IL 60185.
