William "Bill" Planz Sr, 83, of South Elgin, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 31, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 9, 1936 in Chicago, Bill was a veteran airplane mechanic in the United States Army.  His two biggest passions were family and fishing but he also enjoyed bags and traveling with his wife.  Bill worked at ITW Shakeproof for over 57 years and was loved by all.
 
 Beloved husband of 63 years to Patsy “Pat” (nee Charlson); loving dad of 6 children, preceded in death by Jacquelyn, survived by William Jr (Cathy) Planz, Martin Planz, Patti (Jim) O’Grady, Tina (Allen) Dunn, Wendi (Jim) Fierro; cherished grandpa of 16, great grandpa of 14 and great-great grandpa of 2; dear son of the late Earl and Henrietta (nee Adamski) and kind brother of Leanore "Cookie" (Bob) Vigue, Jack Planz (Karen) and the late Donald (Betty) Planz.  Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
