William R. Lindberg, passed away peacefully in his Bartlett home on May 21, 2024, he was loved by many and surrounded by his family having just celebrated his 96 th birthday.
Bill was born at home in Boyer, Iowa on April 30, 1928 to Floyd and Fidelia Lindberg. He had an older sister, Maryann, and a younger brother, John. As a young teenager, Bill put his faith in the Lord. This faith prompted Bill to live a life that served tirelessly, gave generously, and loved sacrificially.
In his early twenties he was introduced to Phyllis A. Burnquist, and it was soon after their first date to a Sunday evening church service that they decided to begin a life together. Married on July 15, 1950 they began farming in Iowa until Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After completing his service in Korea, he returned home and continued farming for several years before relocating to Illinois with five children in tow.
It was Bill’s strong work ethic that resulted in working for over thirty years with Roselle Building Materials. One of his greatest joys was working beside his three boys every day. Having attended a church when they first arrived in IL, they became aware of a need for local church in the Bartlett area. It was then that they joined with six like-minded families to start the Village Church of Bartlett. Bill served the Lord faithfully at this church for rest of his days.
After retirement, Bill served his community well by volunteering at Central DuPage Hospital and by delivering Meals on Wheels into his 80’s, not knowing that later he too would become a recipient of meals being delivered to him.
Bill was a dedicate husband to Phyllis and a loving father to Laura (Paul) Cusick, Robert (Pamela) Lindberg, Charles (Peggy) Lindberg, Daniel Lindberg, Samuel Lindberg, and Sonia (Bill) Ridge. He was loved by many but especially by his thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his infant son Daniel. Bill’s love and faithfulness to his Lord, wife, family, church, and community will live on in our hearts.
