Visitation for William G. Bowers of Bartlett, formerly of Coaldale, PA, will be held Tuesday Sept. 13, 2022 4:00 - 8:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Wednesday 9:15a.m. to Corpus Christi Church. Mass 10:00a.m. Entombment Holy Cross.
 
 Bill served as a Sergeant of Anti-Aircraft Artillery with the 9th Army in the European theater during WWII. He was a longtime employee of R. R. Donnelley and Sons publishing company, where he was the Material Foreman in the Bindery for Sports Illustrated and Time magazines. In retirement, he enjoyed a second career as Head Usher for the Kane County Cougars, where he was affectionately known as "Wild Bill." A devoted Christian, he served as Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He lived a full life for 99 years, maintaining his independence with the help of his longtime friend and companion, Patricia Mamica.
 
 Bill is the beloved husband of the late Arleen Rita nee Sefchik; loving father of Dale Joseph (Mary T.) Bowers; one of 10 children of the late Stephen J. and Helen Skvorak.
