William L Berquist

William (Bill) L. Berquist, 85, passed away Sunday February 1, 2026 with his family at his side.

Bill was born October 31, 1940 in Viroqua WI, to Frank and Catherine (nee Morrison) Berquist.

He was extremely involved in the Village of Streamwood, where he was well known and respected for his dedication and community spirit. His kindness, commitment, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Above all else, Bill cherished his family and found joy with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will continue through them.

In his final chapter Bill continued to embrace life with curiosity and enthusiasm fulfilling several bucket-list adventures including a Helicopter Ride, Chicago Architectural Boat Tour, trips to Las Vegas, New York City and Minneapolis, Skydiving, Salmon Fishing on Lake Michigan, and a Canadian Fishing trip.

He is survived by his sister Jean Shiflett of Greenville SC; children, William Jr. "Bill" (Nancy) of Lakeville MN, Scott (Theresa) of Glendale Heights, IL and Patti Anne (Richard) Church, of Elgin, IL.

Grandchildren, Catherine "Catie" (John), Samantha (Andrew), Hannah (David), Matthew, Courtney (Tim), Jason (Samantha), and Trista (Adnan); and great-grandchildren, Brodie, Leah, Jax, Leo, Adelynne, Skylar, Ruth, Bryce, Brynn, Samantha, Bristol, Brielle, and Asirah, as well as Great-great Grandson Malakai. Along with many additional family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dianne; his parents, Frank and Catherine; in-laws, Frank and Wabirda Rosa; sister Mary Jackson; brothers-in-law James Shiflett and Chris Jackson; and his granddaughter, Ashley Steele.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd, Streamwood, IL 60107.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the funeral home at 10:30 am with visitation 30 minutes prior. Interment will follow at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
