William F. Alden, (73), of Hoffman Estates, IL, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022.
 
 Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory in Bartlett, IL
 
 Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Countryside Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven in Hillside, IL. Arrangements are by Countryside Funeral Home.
 
 Bill was born in Chicago, IL, to William and Dolores Alden on May 19, 1948.  He went to school at Lane Tech High School in Chicago.  He married Judith Alden on January 1, 1985 in Hoffman Estates, IL.  Bill worked for Wilson Sporting Goods in many capacities over 25 years. He left Wilson and worked as an independent consultant for several years and then moved on to Oce for 12 years where he ended his career as the Vice President of Systems Implementation, retiring at the age of 62.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 1st Infantry Division – “Big Red One” - of the United States Army and was awarded numerous medals, among them the Bronze Star. He was an avid fisherman who took annual trips to Canada to fish the Winnipeg River.  He also loved off-roading with his Jeep in the Arizona dessert where he spent time with friends and played “Wild West”. Bill was a voracious book reader who loved to sit outside and read with a cigar, bourbon and beer. He also was a talented woodworker and savvy investor. Most of all, Bill had a zest for life and for family. He loved family gatherings and enjoyed healthy debates and dialogue on numerous topics.
 
 Bill is survived by his loving wife Judith Alden, his beloved children Christine Tippery (Mark), Steven Vichi (Janet) and Christine Tranter (Jim), his adored grandchildren Cole Tippery, Jessica Tippery, Michael Vichi, Nicholas Vichi, Timothy Vichi, Alexa Tranter and Kayla Tranter and his treasured great grandchildren Noah Vichi and Giana Vichi.
