Walter Miller

November 30, 1924 — August 17, 2017

Walter "Jack" Miller of Bartlett; beloved husband of 68 years to Jean (nee Smith); loving father of Robert the late Nancy), Catherine (Robert) Lemke, Diane (Bruce) Batka and Thomas; cherished grandfather of Christine (Mike) Stanley, Rachel Miller, Alexandra (Cornell) Arline, Matthew (Claire) Lemke, Scott Lemke, Dawn (Brennan) O’Malley, and Robert Lemke; proud great grandfather of Kali, Giselle, Max, Fiona, Conner, Keaton, Ayden, Violet and Rowan Walter; many loving nieces and nephews including his late niece Susan; preceded in death by his parents and sister Marion.


He was a decorated Army Veteran and on the first honor flight to fly to Washington D.C. with the VFW 5151 from Streamwood. He played baseball in the minor leagues for the Chicago White Sox before a military injury ended his career and was an honorary veteran for the Chicago Blackhawks on February 18, 2015. He was a retired Chicago Firefighter who rode on Engine 89/Truck 56.


Visitation Tuesday, August 22nd 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Wednesday, 10:15 a.m. to St. Peter Damian Church. Mass 11:00 a.m. Burial St. Michael the Archangel.
