Walter Gramkowski 88 of Streamwood was granted his angel wings on Thursday
May 17, 2018 with his beloved wife Jo-Anne and his loving and caring daughter Cindy by his side. Although he was frail, he gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Walter was born and raised in Pittsfield, MA. He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
He worked many years for Illinois Tool Works in Elgin, IL as a punch press operator until his retirement. In order to provide for his family, Walter also worked a second job at the Elgin Daily Courier News in Elgin, IL.
One of the most important things he enjoyed and loved in life with his wife Jo-Anne was watching and caring for his twin great-grandsons Brandon and Alexander from the time they were infants until they started school and then was able to continue this during the summer months. Now, who knew history would repeat itself when almost 8 years later he got the chance to watch and care for his twin great-granddaughters Rilynn and Addison as well (as he would say "My Girls").
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jo-Anne; his daughter Cynthia Littledale (Richard Ahrens) of Hanover Park, IL ; two sons Richard Gramkowski (Sandra) of Belvedere, IL; David Scott (Theresa) of Dallas, TX and step-son Thomas King of Arvada, CO.
One granddaughter Nicole (Robert) Kloeckner; two grandsons, Andrew (Nicole) Gramkowski; and Daniel Littledale. Three step-granddaughters; Christine, Katherine and Madison King; Five Great-Grandchildren; Brandon, Alexander, Rilynn, Addison Kloeckner and Trindon Gramkowski.
Walter's daughter Cindy and wife Jo-Anne would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by the staff at Lexington of Bloomingdale, Central DuPage Hospital, Northwestern Home Health and his Doctors.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at:
