Virginia Ann “Gini” Reid nee Haak, 78 of Carol Stream passed on October 9,2021. Gini was the daughter of the late Elmer and Anna Haak nee Anderson and mother to Jo Ann (Shawn Hamm) Reid, Jeneen (Gino) Santucci, and Joyce Reid; loving grandmother of Anthony and Alyssa (Gage Broske) Santucci; cherished sister of Linda (Bill Stolpa) Shand, proud aunt of Chris (Jeff) Ploetz, the late Dawn Doles-Becker, Jennifer (Phil) McGarry, Scott, Pam, Billy (Sharon), and Jeffrey Haak; fond great aunt of Matthew, Megan, Daniel (D.J.), Michael, Grant, Brandon, Nicole, Stephanie, and Justin. She will be missed by many cousins, relatives, friends, and many four-legged grandchildren and four-legged great grandchildren.
Gini was born in Chicago on February 12, 1943, and was the third child of Elmer and Anna. Gini lived within the city limits for most of her life and an alumnus of Taft High School. Later she relocated to Carol Stream where she continued her love of quilting, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. She made many beautiful handmade gifts for loved ones and will be treasured by those. Gini enjoyed traveling along with her sister Linda and Bill to explore new and exciting places and treasured those moments they shared together. Family visits to see loved ones in Minnesota always delighted her. Her love of games and puzzles continued to the end. Gini was always up for a game of Farkle with friends and loved ones who wanted to play.
Visitation Tuesday October 12, 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home located at 1640 Greenmeadows Boulevard (at Barrington Road), Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral service will be held at 7:00pm. Following services cremation will take place at Countryside Crematory.
Inurnment at Memory Gardens Cemetery (2501 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004) will take place Saturday October 23, 2021 at 2:00pm. Those who will be attending please follow arrows to the chapel where you will be lining up for a procession. Please remain in your cars until procession has arrived at the niche.
