Viola L. Graff

July 20, 1930 — May 30, 2026

Elgin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Viola L. Graff, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the age of 95, in her residence in Elgin, Illinois. Viola was born on a warm summer day, Sunday, July 20, 1930, in the quaint town of Roscoe, South Dakota. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Viola’s warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, and her legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her loving children, Melanie (Robert) Dewis and Jeff (Irene) Graff. She was a proud grandmother to Abby Graff, Matthew (Rachel) Dewis, Anita (David) DeBlock, Tyler (Lindsey) Dewis, and Heather Graff. One of her greatest joys was her role as a great-grandmother to her cherished great-grandchild, Emilio Graff-Malacara, with another great-granddaughter on the way. Viola's life was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

Viola was preceded in death by her devoted spouse, Gus Graff, her son, Allen Graff, and her parents, Edward and Grace Kinast. Though she has departed from this world, she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home 95 South Gilbert St., South Elgin. Following the service, Viola will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park, surrounded by the love and admiration of those she held dear.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are appreciated as they continue to honor Viola's memory in a manner befitting the incredible life she led.

The Graff family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Sherman Hospital 6 Medical, St. Croix Hospice, and especially to Mary Lucchetti, for her unwavering love and compassion during this difficult time.

Viola L. Graff will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and the profound love she had for her family and friends. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
