Victoria Ann Vendl, 80, of
Carol Stream IL
, died Friday December 13, 2024. Vicky was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2019 and showed incredible strength over the next 5 years. Although her life was impacted significantly with surgery and treatments, she fought courageously and continued to spend as much quality time with her family as possible.
Vicky was born on December 11, 1944, in Detroit, MI to Michael and Jane Saraceno. She was raised in Chicago and graduated from Amundsen High School. She worked as a dedicated secretary in various roles until finding her greatest joy in family life. She married Don Vendl in 1998, a union that brought her tremendous love, happiness and companionship.
Vicky had a zest for life and a wide variety of hobbies over the years. She enjoyed riding her bike, playing racquetball, planting flowers, babysitting the grandkids, and playing her favorite card game, Nerts. She especially treasured spending time with friends, whether going for walks or meeting for lunch. Vicky was also a dedicated volunteer at the Glendale Heights Senior Center, where she gave her time and heart to help others.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Don Vendl; her devoted daughter from her first marriage, Julie Yakel, and her stepchildren, Diane Wedow (Eric) and Debbie Spartz, 8 Grandchildren, Paxton, Alex, Miranda, Rylan, Christine, Donny, Mandi, and Mat, and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother George, extended family, and many dear friends.
Vicky’s love, laughter and generous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to
