Toni M. Walters-Scheer, 74 of Bartlett, IL passed away after a brief battle with metastatic melanoma cancer on January 9, 2024 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. Memorial is on Thursday, January 18th and will be held at Trinity Lutheran 405 Rush St, Roselle, IL 60172 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Funeral is on Friday, January 19th and will be held at Mt. Emblem Cemetery. Family and close friends are invited to gather at the cemetery office for an 11am Committal Service at the graveside with luncheon to follow.
Toni was born May 21, 1949, in Chicago, IL, and was the daughter of the late Ronald and the late Lanore Rasmussen. She married Bob (Robert) Scheer in 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. While they were together for over 40 years, they had enjoyed trips to Aruba, up to the lake house in WI, Disney, New Mexico, Arizona, Alabama; as well as the many volleyball tournaments and dog shows! In the early 1980's to the 2000's, Toni owned and operated Northwest Services. She was one of the few women during that time to not only own a carpentry company, and also a successful one at that, working on many hospitals-high rises-etc.. in the Chicagoland area. In the 90's, Toni ventured into the volleyball scene because of both of her daughters love for the sport, and opened a successful club that saw numerous championships and many females/males moving onto college to continue playing the sport they loved. With all this going on, she also found time to pursue her passion for Great Danes. Through her love, care, thoughtfulness and understanding of the breed, she became one of the most respected breeders within the Great Dane World, with many Champions and gentle giants. Her love for the Danes was unmatched, and she created a line that no other has been able to duplicate.
Toni had always been a fighter, with a strong backbone and a will to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Her husband, dogs and family/close friends, meant everything to her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Bob Scheer; her children Heather (David) Buck, Jamie (Kyle) Eickman; grandchildren Jordyn (Adam) Lee, Joshua Dunbar, Naiomi Buck, Anthony Goldsmith, Noelle Goldsmith, Aeriel Goldsmith, Kenneth Eickman and Elsie Eickman; great grandchildren Ryan and Luke; siblings Terri Gore, Ron (Michelle) Rasmussen and Wade (Teri) Rasmussen; daughter in law Karla Pradt and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Toni was preceded in death by her children Michelle and Kim.
