Visitation for Tom Swanson, a resident of South Elgin since 1979, will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 4:00 – 9:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert St. (at Middle St.) South Elgin. “Story Sharing” and Military Honors at 7:00p.m. Wear whatever makes you comfortable; Tom will be.
  
  Following, cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory. A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, October 3, 1:00p.m. - ? at the Eagles Club Aerie 1047 Social Room 325 Raymond Gilberts, IL.
  
  Born November 23, 1943 in St. Charles, IL, Tom died Sunday, September 27, 2015.
  
  Tom is a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1961 – 1967. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Gilberts and also a member of Elgin VFW Post 1307. Tom worked at Houghton Mifflin Company in Geneva from 1967-1995 and was instrumental in providing jobs for newly immigrated Vietnamese.
  
  He is the devoted husband of 40 years of Jacquie M. nee Wampach; loving and fun-filled father of Robin Michelle (Don) Cullon; cherished grandfather of Kristina Upchurch and Tyler Thomas Kelly; son of the late Harold and Lorraine Swanson; dear brother of Sue (Jerry) White nee Swanson and Dr. Steven (Karen) Swanson; brother-in-law to Judy (the late Tom) Amberg, Kathy (Mark Marinaro) Wampach, Ron (Sandy) Wampach and the late Ken (Patti) Wampach; fond uncle of Christopher (Christine), Melissa, Andrew, Danielle, Ashley, Erick, Ryan, Nick and Andrew; proud great uncle of Zach and Nick. He will also be missed by his faithful companion Chiszek.
