Terry Smith

Terry Lee Smith was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Terry peacefully passed away on May 22, 2021 at 77 years old.

Terry was born and raised in Harlan County, Kentucky on April 24, 1944. He attended Sue Bennett College in London, KY. In 1964. Terry met the love of his life, Peggy J Haddon, his wife of 53 years, before serving in the U.S. Army. Terry returned to Illinois after his service in the Army from 1965 to 1967. During his tenure in the Army, he trained as a fixed wing aircraft mechanic in Germany. After his tour of duty was completed, he came back to Illinois and was trained in carpentry to become a hardwood floor installer where he retired from Coleman Floors Company in 2006.

Terry was a beloved husband of Peggy J. Smith (Haddon); father of Dwight (Tressa), Jason (Kristen), Adam (Nadine) and Rachael. He was a proud grandfather to Eric, Bryan, Amanda, Mattie and Blake Smith. Carson Smith. Dylan and Wyatt Smith. Caleb Caprio. Terry was brother of Betty Lou Fee, Christine (John “J.C”) Roark and Kay Absher, along with multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Katherine Smith, brother in-law’s Claude Fee, Gary Miller, Jack Absher, nephew John (Johnny) Roark, and niece Kathy Fee.

Terry was an active member of Bartlett Baptist Church where he helped physically build and maintain the church that he and his family loved attended. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and loved ones.

Visitation Thursday, May 27, 4:00pm - 9:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road) Bartlett. Funeral Friday 10:30am. Interment Little Woods Cemetery.
