Susan Brown Zahn

Dr. Susan Price Brown Zahn, age 68 of Wayne Township, died Friday, March 21, 2025. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, and was a graduate of South Vigo High School. She received a BA degree from Stephen’s College, graduating in three years while also interning at the British Broadcasting Service and studying at Oxford. She went on to obtain her MA and PhD degrees in Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. Susan began her professional career as a university professor, first at Cleveland State University, then at Miami University, where she won the prestigious Alumni Association Teaching Award. She spent three years at Indiana State University in her home town before leaving academia for the private sector, first at Human Kinetics in Champaign, IL, and then at several professional associations in the Chicago area, serving as Director of Education and Training at the Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling Certification (CRCC) for the past ten years. Among her notable accomplishments, she created and launched CRCC University, a continuing education platform for CRCC certificants. She is survived by her husband, Christopher J. Zahn, of Bartlett, IL; her daughters Jennifer A. Zahn of Champaign, IL and Sarah A. L. Zahn of Bartlett IL; brothers Barry Brown, Mark Brown, Ladd Brown, and David Brown and sister Char Skirvin, as well as nieces and nephews.
