Steven J. King, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on July 16, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, Steve's warm and generous spirit touched all who knew him.
A dedicated remodeling contractor, Steven was known not only for his exceptional craftsmanship but also for his integrity and genuine kindness that he brought to every project. His work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and clients alike.
Steve shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Michele. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his treasured children, James (Renee) King and Kara (Trey) Johnson, and his adored grandchildren, Seren and Margot King and Chase and Taylor Johnson. Steven's life was enriched by his cherished siblings, Sherry King, Eileen King, and Larry King.
Preceded in death by his father, James King, his mother, Evelyn King, his sister, Kathy Cabel, and his brother, Patrick King, Steve now rests in peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
Steve's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer and found joy in working around his property, tending to his horses, and embracing the great outdoors. Above all, he cherished his role as "Gramps," a title that brought him immense happiness and fulfillment.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 S. Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Journey Care Hospice, an organization that provided tremendous support and care.
Steven J. King will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the love he shared will remain with us always.
