Steven Allen Figved,72, of Bartlett, Il., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021, unexpectedly of a sudden infection. Steve was born on April 3, 1949, in Lake Forest, IL, to Stan and Margaret Figved.
Steve is a graduate of Mundelein High School Class of ’67, where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Debbie Goetz Figved. Steve was President of the MHS Foundation and earned the recognition award of Distinguished Alumni. He will be remembered for his kind and comforting heart, love for family and friends, and intelligent words he shared with so many across the world.
Steve started his career with Fire and Emergency with the Libertyville Fire Department, IL which led to a lifelong commitment of serving his community as Fire Chief of Barrington, IL and then Fire Chief of Bartlett, IL. He then retired as Chief Administrator for the Will County 9-1-1 ETSB.
Steve enjoyed sharing and visiting with his family and grandchildren as well as friends. He was a true Chicago sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, and listening to music especially blues, Dixieland, western swing, and Linda Ronstadt.
He is preceded in death by his parents Stan and Margaret, aunt and uncle Doris and Ole Jorpeland, and son Scott Figved. He is survived by his loving wife Deb Figved, daughter, Kristin and husband Tommy, granddaughters, Lindsay and fiancé Noah, Brooke, Lexi, and Chloe and grandson, Nicholas of Allen, TX, son, Ross and wife Melissa of Berwyn, IL., sister, Wendy and husband Dennis Szilagyi of Camdenton, MO, brother Rick and wife Debbie of Rio Rancho, NM, brother-in-law Thom and wife Jan Goetz of Morris, Il and extended family in the US and Norway. He will be missed by many.
