Stan Karthan

Stanley Karthan (Karathanasis), 79, of Schaumburg passed away on August 12, 2024. He was born in Evergreen Park to the late George and Julia. Stanley, Stan, Stosh, Stan The Man, Farkey Dog, was a truly unique individual, a man of modest stature with an extraordinary heart. His deep and abiding love for God, family, and friends touched lives far beyond his immediate circle. Known for his exceptional sensitivity, Stanley wore his heart on his sleeve, always eager to share his affection and respect for those around him. His enthusiasm and passion were evident in every endeavor he undertook, and his infectious spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him. Beloved husband of Andrea “Andi” Karthan; Loving father of Karyn (Craig), Karolyn (Tom), George (Amy); Cherished pappou of Nick, Georgia, Austin, Michael, Alexi, Alec, Sadie, Julian; Dearest brother of Carolyn (the late Benedict), the late Beatrice (the late George);Beloved Son In-law (late Riz & Toni), Brother In-law, Pappou, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, Neighbor, Godfather, Church Family, Teacher, Coach, Umpire and Referee. A celebration of life will be on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 3-8pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.), Streamwood/Schaumburg, IL  with Trisagion prayers at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11am at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 525 Church Rd., Elgin, IL 60123. Interment will follow at River Valley  Memorial Gardens. Visitation will also be held at church on Saturday from 10:30am until the time of service.
