Shirley Zuccarello, 89, of Elgin, IL passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025. Born to Arthur and Estelle Schrager, she lived a full and vibrant life in the greater Chicago area and touched the lives of many along the way
.
In her younger days, Shirley enjoyed snow and water skiing; on a hot summer day in 1958, she was pictured on the front page of the Chicago Tribune overlooking Lake Michigan. Her interest in the Chinese culture led to an unforgettable journey across China and Hong Kong. Shirley loved spending time outdoors, where she immersed herself in gardening, birdwatching, and frequent visits to local botanical gardens.
Shirley is the beloved mother of Tony (the late Roxanne) and Jean Zuccarello; cherished grandma of Ashley. She is survived by her loving sibling Dan (Sheila) and remembered by her late siblings Gloria (the late Bill), the late Art (Geri), the late Herb (Eileen).
A celebration of life and visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S Greenmeadows Blvd, Streamwood. Followed by a private cremation.
