Shirley Ponzoni

Shirley (nee Blue), 86, and Gilbert Ponzoni, 89, of Schaumburg, passed away together peacefully at each other's side on Friday, May 6, 2022. Shirley was an avid Bears fan who enjoyed the Statler Brothers, and Gilbert, an Army Veteran, was an avid bowler whom enjoyed playing chess and watching MASH together with Shirley. Beloved mother and father of Doug (the late Kathy) Ponzoni and Donna Carrier; loving grandparents of Anthony (Amanda) Saccomanno and Amanda Voss; proud grandparents of Kaylee, Keira, Kody, and Abbey. Shirley is the fond sister of Evelyn Joyce (Ed) Ondrick and the late Vester (Lois) Blue and Gilbert is the fond brother of George (Phyllis) Ponzoni, Diane (the late Joe) Lavelle, and the late Ronald (the late Janet) Ponzoni. Visitation for Shirley and Gilbert will be Thursday, May 12 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert St. (at State St.), South Elgin. Funeral Friday 10:30am. Family and friends will meet Friday at 1:30pm for their interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
