Shirley Abatangelo

Shirley June Abatangelo (nee Simonsen), 86, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Carol Stream, died October 3, 2014. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Dominick Abatangelo; loving mother of Frank (Pam), Dominick, and James Abatangelo; proud grandma of Erik and Nicholas Abatangelo; cherished great grandma of Taylor and Toni Abatangelo; loving sister of the late George (Bonnie) Simonsen, the late Honey Susca.

After retiring from Glenbard North High School as a Nurse’s Aid Shirley continued to work at the bake shop in Jewel and later retired from there as well. Shirley was voted Citizen of the Year in Carol Stream, she was a volunteer at the DuPage Convalescent Center, and formerly a very active member of the PTA. Shirley enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and she was a good cook too.

Visitation for Shirley, Monday, October 6, 3:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Road (1/2 mile South of Irving Park Road) Roselle. Funeral Tuesday 10:00a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Tribute Program 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
