Shieldeen Zalewski

April 11, 1970 — October 20, 2020

Shieldeen Aseron Zalewski, age 50, passed away peacefully in God’s hands on October 20, 2020, due to ovarian cancer. She was born on April 11th, 1970, in the Philippines to Shirley Zaraspe Aseron and to the late Fernando Panganiban Aseron. Shieldeen has a sister Jasmin Aseron Baptista. Shieldeen is married to David Jay Zalewski and has no children, but has two cats and a dog.

Shieldeen graduated with a BSN degree from PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing in 1990. She has been a nurse for 30 years and was employed at Franciscan St. James Hospital, Kosciusko Community Hospital, and many other facilities. Shieldeen had experience in supervisory roles, as well as bedside nursing. During her time as a nurse, she not only touched the lives of patients, but also those with whom she worked with.

Shieldeen had a love for many things, such as traveling, singing, and dancing. During her lifetime, she visited many countries, but her favorite place that she had visited was Negril, Jamaica. She was always the life of the party no matter where she went and would be singing her favorite karaoke songs such as, “Eye of the Tiger”, “I Will Survive”, and “Don’t Stop Believin”. At parties and events, she would also be the first one on the dance floor, dancing to songs like “Wobble”, “Cupid Shuffle”, and “Macarena”.

Shieldeen, also known as “Brooke Shields” by her family and friends, will always be remembered as a loving, self-less, and caring person. She was always willing to give and support others during their time of need. Shieldeen will also be remembered for her confidence, courage, and strength. She was not afraid to be herself nor stand up for what she believed in. In the end, though Shieldeen’s body was weak, her mind was sound. As she passed, she was surrounded by the Grace of God, as well as the love, thoughtfulness, and prayers of her loved ones.
