Mr. Shah grew up in a small town and later resided in Ahmedabad, Mumbai (Bombay) and finally in Chicago IL. He was married to Shardaben who passed away August 15, 1987. He is survived by three sons Rohit, Bharat and Dilip, 6 grandchildren as well as 7 great grandchildren.
Since 10 years of age, he loved physical fitness and joined local gymnasium which at the time was a place where many freedom fighters were attracted to. He has followed Mahatma Gandhi’s principles and way of life and regularly participated alongside Gandhi at his prayer meetings.
He obtained Bachelor of Arts degree in 1934 from University of Bhavnagar and continued his pursuit in Physical Education. He headed up the Labor Welfare Department as Welfare Commissioner. He assisted numerous labor groups and incentivized them in adopting a healthy life style. He retired in 1973.
In his later years, he greatly enjoyed music and continued teaching, practicing, and singing vocal prayers. He also sustained a high level of physical and mental health through rigorous exercises for mental and physical fitness.
He has had a great impact on everyone that had the privilege of spending time with him. His influence and inspiration has been and will continue to be a source of strength for those who knew him best.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2nd. from 3:00 p.m. until the time of cremation 5:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd., (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett.
