Ruth Syslo

Gathered home on May 31, 2014. Born April 29, 1931, one of the last infants born at Chicago’s Lying-In Hospital, to John and Margaret “Peggy” (nee Fiel) Durkin. She worked for many years as a legal secretary and later was a published free-lance writer and became a Stephen Minister for her church. She enjoyed travel, reading, the theatre and working crossword puzzles. Known for her wit, great sense of humor, and fun-loving spirit. Loving wife of the late Theodore Syslo. Devoted mother of Lynne (Al) White and Scott Syslo. Proud grandmother of Gary, Kyle, and Ryan Froehlich and Nicole (John) Richards, and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved sister Kathleen Czerpaniak. A celebration of her life will take place 7:30p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 with visitation 3:00p.m. until time of service at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd (at Stearns Rd), Bartlett.
