Ruth Janet Griesbaum, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on August 30, 1931, Ruth was a beloved resident of St. Charles, revered for her kindness, joy, and zest for life.
The daughter of the late John and Bernice (nee Sandstrom) Norland, Ruth spent her life surrounded by the love of her family, who were central to everything she did. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood Griesbaum, and her dear daughters, Janet Draffone and Carol (Christopher) Radaj, as well as her precious great-grandson, Christopher.
Ruth is survived by a loving family who cherished her tremendously: her son Karl (Robbie) Griesbaum, daughter Karen (Mark) Falesch and son-in-law Richard Draffone. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Christopher (Monika) Falesch, Michael (Azalia) Falesch, Kendall (Adam) Van Deusen, Erik (Brittany) Draffone, Eric Lataweic, and Justin Lataweic. She was also blessed with step-grandchildren Luke Falesch, Valerie Falesch, Jeni (Jay) Mahan and Aimee (Mike) Jacobs, and step-great granddaughter Madison Draffone. Ruth’s joy extended to her great-grandchildren Charlotte, Maxwell, Zander, Brooklyn, twins Myles and Zayna, and several nieces and nephews all who brought endless delight to her days.
Ruth’s life was enriched by her passions for traveling, sewing, bowling, and writing poetry. She expressed her creativity and love through these activities, bringing joy to those around her. Her vibrant spirit was evident in all she did.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruth’s remarkable life. A visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, located in Bartlett, IL, on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Celebration of Life service will take place at the same location on Monday, June 15th, 2026, at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations in Ruth’s memory be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, continuing her legacy of care and compassion.
