Rose M. Barbarossa – 89 years old
(Elgin, IL) She died February 4, 2010 in Elgin. Rose was born in Boston, MA on November 29, 1920. She was born into an Italian family and had two brothers, and became a Dominican Nun at a young age. Rose moved to Chicago in the 1950s and was a teacher for over 40 years in the Chicago Public School System, the majority of her teaching years were spent at Drummond High School in Chicago, IL. In the late 1970s Rose moved to Hanover Park, IL where she resided for the latter part of her life. After retirement, she worked part-time as a substitute teacher and taught Catechism. She devoted her life to the Roman Catholic faith. Rose supported a variety of Catholic Charities throughout her life including a chapel in India, built as a result of her generous donation and dedicated to her name.

Rose enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. Rose had a love for life, adored children from all walks of life, and lived selflessly.

Rose is survived by her loving nieces, nephews and friends. Rose is preceded in death by her parents and brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Salesian Missions (www.salesianmissions.org)and Boys Town (www.boystown.org). Visitation for Rose will be on Sunday, February 7th 4 to 8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 95 S. Gilbert St. (at Middle St.) South Elgin, also Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church 397 Fulton St., Elgin.
