Ronald N. Fangusaro

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Nicholas Fangusaro, known affectionately to everyone as “Ron” or “Ronnie.” Born on July 12, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frances and Alex Fangusaro, Ron grew up in the city surrounded by a tight-knit circle of loving cousins.

After graduating from St. Philip’s High School, Ron built a long and successful career in the packing and shipping industry. His hard work and expertise left a mark on several companies over the years, including Zenith, Game Plan, and Michael Lewis.

In 1964, Ron married the love of his life, Elisabeth Sanalitro. Over their 61 years together, they built a life centered on family. Ron’s true joy was being an incredibly loving husband and involved father. He volunteered for innumerable activities with his children, from leading Cub Scout packs and participating in Indian Princesses to coaching softball and baseball teams in Bloomingdale for over 18 years. If his three children were there, Ron was there too, usually making sure everyone was having a good time.

His passion for helping others extended to the entire community. Ron served on the Bloomingdale school board and was a long-time, dedicated member of the Lions Club, eventually serving as their Governor. He spent years volunteering for the "Ski For Sight" program and brought literal magic to local children by playing Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for countless community events.

Beyond his service, Ron’s greatest joy—second only to his family—was making people laugh. He possessed a silly, and playful sense of humor and lived to make others smile. His family finds great comfort knowing that the stories of his pranks and jokes will be told (and laughed at) for generations to come.

In his later years, Ron’s six grandchildren became the light of his life. He never missed a chance to tell them how much he loved them or how proud he was of the people they were becoming.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Elisabeth; his daughters Marissa (Dana) Allen and Danielle (John) Robert; his son Jason (Kelly) Fangusaro; and his brother-in-law, Gaetano Sanalitro. He remains the world’s proudest "Papa" to Isabella (Dan), Nicholas, Alex, Nolan, Daniel, and Stella.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 at St. Isidore Parish, 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, Ill 60108 at 10:30am.
