Ronald. Anderson, age 91, of Bartlett (formerly of Elgin) passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9. He was a resident of Elgin from 1957 until 2008. He was born on October 20, 1922 in Altona Illinois as the second of eleven children born to Milo and Genevieve Anderson. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1946. He was a founding member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Elgin and was part of the building committee and church council over the years. He worked most of his career with Illinois Tool Works. He loved roller skating, bowling, fishing, spending time with family, playing billiards and poker, and watching sports of all kinds and was still playing softball at age 78. He has recently been known as the “Banana Bread Man.” He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, of over 64 years. He is survived by four children – Valerie (Ken) Jones of Elgin, Pamela (Steve Conro) Anderson of Batavia, Kenton Anderson of Chicago, and Patricia Anderson of Wellington Kentucky. He was a loving brother to late Rachel (Ivan) Jones, Ruby (late Bud) Benson, late Rose (late Bill) Lemke, Harley (late Sally) Anderson, Betty (late Edward) Warren, late Curt (Lynne), Raymond (Betty) Anderson, Harry (Marlyis) Anderson, Judy (Richard) Johnson, and Janet Caudel and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday March 13 3:00 to 8:00PM at Sacred Heart Chapel at Clare Oaks Retirement Community,827 Carillon Dr., Bartlett. A funeral service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 535 North McLean Blvd. in Elgin at 10:30 AM Friday following a visitation starting at 9:30. Burial will be at the Oakridge Cemetery in Sandwich about 2:45PM Friday after a luncheon at the church.
