Roger Ramey
February 26, 1947 — March 8, 2024
Roger M. Ramey, 77, of Bartlett, IL passed away suddenly on March 8, 2024. Roger was born in Amarillo, TX to Seth and Doris Ramey and grew up in the West University neighborhood of Houston, TX. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam war as part of a six-year enlistment. He left the Marines as a Corporal having been awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the RVN Cross of Gallantry, among others. After
serving his country,
he began his corporate career with Hilton Hotels which is where he met his future wife, Pat, to whom he was married for 49 years. He went on to become a partner in a Houston based CPA firm and ended his career as an executive with United Airlines.
After his success in the corporate world Roger earned his M.Ed. and pursued teaching to pass on his expertise at Elgin Community College in the Office Administration Technology Department from 2000 to 2016. He also served as a member of the Elgin Community College Foundation Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016. Roger loved working at ECC and found true fulfillment through teaching.
After retirement Roger enjoyed golfing with friends, regular dinner and movie dates with his wife as well as time at their lake house. He also relished spending time with their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. From family weekends at the lake house to cruises around the world, Roger enjoyed providing experiences that brought the family closer. Roger was the best “girl dad” and treasured the time he prioritized spending with his grandkids.
He is the beloved husband of Patricia; loving father of Shannon (Doug) Arseneau; cherished granddaddy of Abigail and Miles; brother-in-law of Marisue (Jack) Jeschke; fond uncle of Lance & Jennifer; dear cousin of Kent Ramey, Tammy Neu, Julie Ramsey and Joan Berry.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of service 12:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL 60103. Interment will be at St. Michael the Archangel, 1185 W. Algonquin Rd. Palatine, IL 60067.
