Robert P. Summerfelt, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1st, 2026, at the age of 97. A longtime resident of Bartlett, Illinois, Robert was born on February 26th, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois.
Robert dedicated a significant part of his career as a Lab Technician at Dupont Paint, where his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft left a lasting impression on his colleagues. His dedication extended beyond his professional life, as he also served his country honorably in the Marines.
Those who knew Robert were aware of his love for fishing, especially during the summers spent alongside his son, Martin. He also found pleasure in occasional visits to the casino, a pastime that often led to cherished memories and stories.
Robert is survived by his loving son, Martin (Pam) Summerfelt, his cherished granddaughter, Sarah, and his dear sister, Leona Buczkowski. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Adeline Summerfelt, his parents, Stanley and Martha Summerfelt, as well as his siblings, Lucille Mier, John Summerfelt, Joseph Summerfelt, and Ralph Summerfelt.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, from 9:00 am until of prayers10:15 am at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 S. Bartlett Rd., Bartlett, Illinois. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:45 am at St. Isidore, 427 W Army Trail Rd, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. Entombment Private.
In honoring Robert’s memory, we remember his dedication to his family, his work, and his country. His legacy will be carried on through the love and memories shared by all who knew him.
Robert will be deeply missed, but his life and memories will forever be cherished by his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
