Robert “Boppy” Bruce McCaffrey, 90, resident of Alexian Village, Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Robert was the beloved husband of the late Mary Joan (nee Finnegan); loving father of Lauren (David) Thorp and the late William; proud grandfather of Leslie (Austin) Smith, Elise (Michael) Chinn, Stephanie Burroughs, Kaitlin McCaffrey; cherished great grandfather of Abigail Rose Smith; dear uncle of Lynn (Ken) Hallock and Frank (Ellen) O’Shea; fond great uncle of Jessica and Ryan.
A WWII Navy Veteran Robert was a purple heart recipient and also a member of the Writer’s Club in Schaumburg. Robert was known also by Boppy, a nickname given to him by his granddaughters, he loved it so much he asked everyone to call him by that.
Visitation Thursday, October 20, 3:00p.m. until the time of service 8:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Road) Bartlett. Cremation will be private at Countryside Crematory.
