Robert Ellithorpe

November 2, 1925 — March 6, 2011

Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye! Know all of the passing of the good man and citizen, Robert Ellithorpe on Saturday, the 5th day of March 2011.

Born in 1925, son of Gilbert and Evelyn Ellithorpe and younger brother to Bert, he is survived by his second wife Carmen, five children Jon (Rita) , Clark (Jane), Virginia (Roger Newberry), Chris (Karen), Susan (Jack Larson), his grandchildren and extended loving family.

Bob served his country through participation in the Marine Corp's Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. With his young wife and long-time partner, Shirley (nee Brewer, 1919-2004), he became a pioneer and long time pillar of two western Chicago suburban communities.

As master carpenter and industrial arts educator, he served his family and his community. His example of excellence will continually guide us as we carry on without his presence.

Rest in peace, Robert Sammons Ellithorpe.

Honor Flight Network

(Mission Statement: Transport America's veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.)

Time is of the Essence.

Based on recent 2008 statistics, we are losing World War II veterans at the rate of approximately 1,000 per day. Honor Flight Network will continue do whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans and help our senior heroes travel absolutely free. Subsequent to the World War II veterans, our efforts will then focus on our Korean War and then Vietnam War veterans, honoring them similarly.
