Robert M. Cotton, was called to Heaven on December 18th, 2025. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and his closest family and friends, wrapped in love at the end of a life devoted to others.
He was born in New York City, to John and Rose Cotton on December 1st, 1953. He moved to Chicago as a young boy and has fond memories of his childhood with his siblings John and Fran. He spent the majority of his life in Hanover Park, Illinois, where he built his home and raised his family. He shared four beautiful children with his friend and former wife, Debbie.
He was a man defined by resilience, someone who met life’s challenges with quiet strength and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. Day after day, he showed up for his children and that same commitment was given to his grandchildren, not out of obligation, but out of deep love and devotion. He was a giver in every sense, extending his care not only to his own kids but to their friends as well. He lived as a true testament to being only one call away, always ready to help, support, or simply be present when someone needed him.
Robert was a devoted father and grandfather whose love for his family was evident in everything he did. He is survived by his children: Robert (Nicole) Cotton, Michael (Alexandria) Cotton, Joseph (Jessica) Cotton, and Teresa (Jonathon) Brandt.
He was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren who adored him: Hannah, Alaina, Hayden, Abigail, Cole, Bobby, Vince, Caleb, and Rosalia Cotton, and Xander, Zeke, and Elouise Brandt. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Robert is also survived by his siblings, John (Velrah) Cotton and Frances (Tom) Miller, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. Bob’s parents, John and Rose precede him in death.
Bob will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strength, and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind.
