Robert E. Brekhus, 68, of Presque Isle, formerly of Chicago and Streamwood, IL, passed away at his home on January 24, 2014. He was born in Chicago, IL on Dec. 17, 1945 to Alfred and Mildred (nee Orell) Brekhus. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran, he served in the US-Marine Corps from 1966-68. He was employed for 37 years with Transo Envelope Co, then for Diamond Envelope for three years before retiring to the Northwoods in 2005.
Survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Millie (Mildred Husak) Brekhus; loving son Robert Brekhus Jr.; mother-in-law Helen Husak; sister Charleen Mazalewski; six sister –in-laws, Alice (Udo) Raik, Nancy (John) Leach, Darlene (Walt) Neyers, Barbara Husak, Christine (Robert) Pinta, Diane Brekhus; nieces and nephews, Tony Mazalewski, , Steve Mazalewski, Christine Mazalewski, Cindy (Charles) Boyd, Lisa Mazalewski, Tom Mazalewski, Steven Pinta, Jon Pinta, Stephanie Mazalewski, Ryan Mazalewski, Cassandra, Anneliese and Nicholas Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Gary A. Brekhus
Visitation will be from 10 am to the time of the service on Saturday at the Countryside Funeral Home, Streamwood, IL. Funeral services will be held at the Countryside Funeral Home on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 12 noon. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Presque Isle, WI.
In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to the national Parkinson Foundation or your local VFW.
