Rita Kay Fletcher, 64, of Bartlett, Illinois, passed away on November 15, 2025 after fighting cancer to the very end. She passed away at home surrounded by family and close friends. Rita was born on May 31, 1961 to Donald and Helen (Wilk) Fletcher. She was the youngest of five children.
Rita spent 39 years working in the parks and recreation field. She started her career as a Recreation Supervisor and worked her way to Executive Director during her tenure with the Bartlett Park District. Rita loved the outdoors, traveling, golfing,biking, the Chicago Cubs, lake life, and her dog Dakota. Holiday family functions always meant Rita was bringing things from “Aunt Jewel”, including chocolate milk! Anyone who knew Rita also knew she was a connoisseur of ice cream regardless of the time of year and knew that M&M’s were always available at her house!
Rita served on various boards and was a part of different community organizations. She will forever be remembered as someone who was a friend to all and a supportive rock for her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her dog Dakota, sister Patricia, her brothers Larry (Margy) and Tommy (Debra) her nieces and nephews, Shari, Doug, Julie, Derek, Josh, Leslie, Mellody, Thomas, and Neil, along with several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Michael, and her dog Riley.
Per her request there will be no public funeral services. The family will gather for a time of private celebration. There will be a Rita Fletcher day of fun celebration held in conjunction with the Bartlett Park District in the spring.
