Richard Schumacher

Richard “Dick” Mathew Schumacher, 86, of Medinah for 57 years, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born May 13, 1927 in Lisle Township. He was the son of Hubert H. and Mary C. (nee Johanek). Dick was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy and was an usher at St. Walter Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed music, art and gardening. He especially enjoyed woodworking but his true passion was his family. Beloved husband of 62 years to Mary (nee Casazza); Loving father of Mary (Chris) Gregoire, Rick (Ellen), John, Brian (Kelly) and Trina (Rick) Bong; Cherished grandpa of Jacki (George), Kristofer (Nelsi), Shari (Dante), Eric (Blaine), Jeremy (Jenna), Elizabeth, April, Mathew, Danielle, Natalie, Nicky, Bradley, Jenny(Steven) and Tim; Dear great grandpa of Zakary, Joey, Emily, Brody, Dylan, Drew, Madison, Bailey and two on the way; fond brother of Rita (the late Bill) Sanders, George (the late Alice), Genie (the late Al) Hatch, Joe (the late Mary Gin), Loretta (the late Leonard) Saul and the late Marie, Hubert and Robert; and numerous other family members and friends.
