Richard Murowski

Richard John Murowski, 90, of South Elgin passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 peacefully at home. He was born July 5, 1933 in Hartford, CT, the son of Fred and Mary Murowski, and he was united in marriage to Laura Wefing.

Richard was a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut (Cum Laude), lieutenant in the US Navy, and professional baseball player. Most resoundingly, he was a compassionate soul who loved his family and always acted in kindness. Honorable and dependent, Richard started his own company, Mursan, Inc., where he served as CEO for over 30 years. His love affair with his beautiful wife Laura lasted over 60 years, and he showed her true love until the end through his strength and unfaltering care during her battle with dementia.

He is survived by his wife Laura and three children: Richard Murowski, Christine Smith (Kevin), and Elizabeth Larson, and five grandchildren: Derek Smith, Justin Smith, Alexa Smith, Sophia Larson, and James Larson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Fred Murowski Jr. and sister Diane Tremonte.

A mass for Richard will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 400 Cedar St, St. Charles (downtown locatio) at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18. The family encourages donations to the Dementia Society of America in lieu of flowers to honor Richard’s wife and other affected families.
