Richard Mroz

Richard (Dick) Albert Mroz was born April 2, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Bruno Mroz and Angeline (Czajka) Mroz. He went to be with our Lord on January 30, 2022 at the age of 89 years old, having lived a saintly life. His younger brothers are Dennis and Robert (deceased). Richard married Eleanor (Hansen) Mroz February 28, 1959 in Wheaton, IL. They moved into their home in Glendale Heights on February 10, 1960 where they raised their 10 children and currently reside. Richard (Dick) graduated from Lane Tech HS in Chicago. He served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. He worked as a cabinet maker for 19 years. He retired from St. Matthew Catholic Church and Grade School in Glendale Hts. after being in charge of maintenance for 27 years. As a young man, Richard took pride in his 1957 Ford Thunderbird. He shared his passion for cars with his brothers. He and his brother's along with his parents took pride in their 1950 Titian Tudor Ford, winning many trophies. He was active for many years in Church and Cursillo. He was Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 357. He taught 4H woodworking at St. Matthew School. He assisted with Church Youth Search activities. Richard enjoyed Square Dancing and Queued BallRoom Dancing for 26 years with the Yellowrockers. He loved antiquing. Most of all he loved his family and friends. Richard preceded his Wife and family. Their 10 children are: Michael married Alison Freeburg, Marjorie married Juan Salas, Robert married Debra Glugla, Thomas married Donna Glugla, Carol married Paul DeStefano, Patricia married Glen West, Susan married Gary Ziffra, George married Dawne Kasnicka, Peter married Thanyada Yahatta and John married Jessica Gaffney. Richard and Eleanor were blessed with 35 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Visitation Friday February 4, 2022 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm at The Countryside Funeral Homes 333 South Roselle Rd., Roselle. Prayers Saturday 10:45am at the funeral home going to St. Matthew Catholic Church , Glendale Heights for Mass at 11:30am. Cremation will follow at The Countryside Crematory. Info (630)529-5751
