Richard P. Lorimer of Streamwood, IL. He was the beloved husband of Susan for 42 years and devoted father to his son Casey. He passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 22 at the age of 71, four days shy of his 72nd birthday. Richard was born in Elmhurst, Illinois and had 9 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father Frank, mother Linda, and his brothers Frank and Edward Lorimer. He leaves behind a loving family.
Richard was dedicated first to his family and then to his work; he was highly respected for his integrity and excellence in all he did while employed at Goding Electric of Glendale Heights for 49 years and 10 months. He started employment there upon graduation from trade school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 22 years old. He was looking forward to reaching retirement in July when he reached his 50th anniversary with Goding Electric.
Richard was a licensed electrician and enjoyed working with and building motors. He was loyal to what he set his mind to whether it was work, love of family, writing, caring for his pet pigeon Harold, which he acquired when it flew into Goding Electric one day with an orange tag on his foot indicating he came from a pet store in Chicago, . Richard promptly brought the pigeon back to the store it flew from, and the next day that pigeon flew right back to Goding Electric. Richard took care of Harold for 19 years and the pigeon would not let anyone else care for him or hold him. Harold would snap at others but flap his wings when he heard Richard’s car come home. The pigeon turned out to be as loyal as Richard, also never letting anyone but Richard hold him or care for him.
Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S. GreenMeadows, Blvd, Streamwood, IL on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 3:00-9:00 with a service at 5:00 pm, offering time for family and friends to honor Richard’s life and legacy.
