Richard S. Kogut, a cherished resident of Hanover Park, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday , July 27th, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on Saturday, March 29th, 1947, Richard lived a life characterized by service, love, and immense dedication to his family and community.
An honorable Vietnam Army Veteran, Richard served his country with valor and distinction, earning the prestigious Purple Heart Award for his bravery and sacrifice. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his military service into his personal and professional life, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
Richard's life was anchored by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary M. Kogut (nee: Dixon), who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. Together, they raised a beautiful family, rich in love and bonded deeply.
He leaves behind his beloved children: Denise (Phil) Potamites, David (Amy) Kogut, Danielle (Tim) Pritchard, and Derek (Danielle) Kogut, along with the memory of his late daughter, Dawn (Brian) Cagney. Richard was a proud grandfather to Devon (John), Jacob (Gianna), Genevieve, Dennis, Dean, Carson, Carys, Braden, Ensley, Camden, Spencer, Emery, Eirelynn, Eloise, Matthew, Peyton, Ethan, and Henry. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Noah, Emilia, and Theodora, each a cherished part of his life's journey.
Richard is also survived by his sisters, Barbara (George) Meyer and Michelle Edwards, who shared in his life's stories and supported him unconditionally.
