Visitation for Richard Jay Johnson of Roselle since 1962 will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 4:00 - 8:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Rd. (1/2 mile south of Irving Park Rd.) Roselle. Lying in State Friday 9:00a.m. until time of service 10:00a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church 405 S. Rush St. Roselle. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery.
Rich is the beloved husband of 41 years of Mary nee Larme and the late Carolyn nee Petersen; loving father of Tim (Susan) Johnson, Susan (Mike) Price and Sandy (Carl) Vangundy; cherished grandfather of Kirk Johnson, Carolyn (Matthew) Brener, Katie (Tim) Eigenfeld, Alex, Mickey and Andrew Price; proud soon-to-be great grandfather; dear brother of Jane Depper and Vivian Hinch; loving nieces and nephews.
After graduating Glenbard West High School in 1952, Richard joined the U.S. Army being stationed in Okinawa in a special unit called "SCARWAF". He returned home in 1955 and the next year married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Petersen. Sadly, Carolyn died in 1965 in an auto accident.
God intervened and brought him to Mary Larme and they were married in 1976 to the present, celebrating 41 years of marriage. They have enjoyed family, cruises and their summer home in Wisconsin which overlooks the Mississippi River, high on a bluff south of LaCrosse.
Richard spent many years working in sales and ended his career working at Wm. Rainey Harper College and retired in 1999.
