Richard W. “Gumpy” Gumprecht Jr, 64, of South Elgin, died Saturday, June 27, 2020. Born April 15, 1956 in Belvidere. Richard was an avid White Sox fan and loved to travel, play cards and dice, but his biggest passion was always his family. Beloved husband of 40 years to Janice (nee Hopp); loving father of Eric and Brian (Jenna McDade); dear son of the late Richard Sr and Marilyn (nee Kunde); loving son-in-law to the late Robert and Betty Hopp; kind brother of the late Diana (Kurt) Stock; dear uncle to several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great, great nephew and owner of his faithful companion Bandit. Visitation 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 95 S Gilbert St (at State St), South Elgin. We kindly ask that you please plan to stay only long enough to pay your respects so that we may accommodate everyone while being mindful of the 50-person maximum rule currently set in place. Services and burial at Bluff City Cemetery will be private on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org or the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
