Richard Drews

November 28, 1938 — June 6, 2022

Richard Charles Drews, Sr., 83, of Streamwood, Illinois, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Richard was born on November 28, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army from December 1, 1961 till December 1, 1963 till honorably discharged, then served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1974 till 1977. Richard was very proud to be a Veteran. In 1976 Richard drove the Hercules Missile in the 1976 Bicentennial Parade in Streamwood. Richard was a local truck driver in Elgin, Illinois for over 40 years till his retirement. Richard used to enjoy his "Oldies but Goodies" music, old time television games shows and movies, along with his precious dedication to his faith, he enjoyed collecting Catholic memorabilia such as statues of our Heavenly Father and Mother Mary and recently started collecting prayer cards of our Holy Saints.

Richard was and always will be a true symbol of strength, love and encouragement to his family and friends. Our hearts are forever broken.

Richard is survived by his very proud 6 children, Richard (Kathy) Christine, Peggy, Mary (Bill), Lisa (Brian) and Patricia; also 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Diana Drews (nee Clarke), his parents Eugene and Wilma Drews, sister Lorraine Slupski, brother Eugene Jr., brother Charles and sister in law Karen, and loving grandchild Victoria Weser.

The visitation will be Friday, June 10th, 3:00 PM. till 9:00 PM. at Countryside Funeral Homes & Crematory, 16430 S. Green Meadows Blvd., Streamwood, IL 60107. Funeral will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 9:15 AM. where prayers will be said, following mass at 10AM. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 502 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood, IL 60107. Burial will be at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 1185 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL 60067, where a short final prayer will be said in the chapel. Then Richard will be laid to rest next to his dearly departed wife Patricia.
