Richard Bong

Richard “Rick” Bong, 57, of Hanover Park for 23 years, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born February 8, 1959 in Chicago. Rick enjoyed everything baseball. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved coaching his son’s baseball team the Hawks in the Midwest Suburban Men’s Baseball League. He loved his family, especially his granddaughter, and will be missed by his family and friends. Beloved husband of 34 years to Trina (nee Schumacher); loving dad of Jennifer (Steve) Schwertfeger and Tim (Heather Chudy); cherished grandfather of Hailey and one on the way; dear son of the late Rudelle Bong and Marilyn Cangelosi; caring brother of Ron (Chris), Kelly (Brian) Schumacher, Rob (late Kris), and Randy; fond son-in-law of Mary (the late Richard) Schumacher and brother-in-law to Mary (Chris) Gregoire, Rick (Ellen) and John Schumacher; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews and special nephew of Ray Bong (Carol).
