Richard Jerome Blumer

Dec 29, 1954 — Aug 3, 2026

Streamwood

Richard Blumer, 71, a resident of Streamwood for more than 46 years, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Richard was the beloved husband of Bridget (nee Boyce) for 47 years; loving father of Eddie (Alicia) Blumer and Mike (Leigh) Blumer; proud grandfather of Greyson, Elle, Everly, Barrett, and Sadie; cherished son of the late Edward and the late Petronella "Pat" (nee Tomaszewski) Blumer; dear brother of Jan (Scott) Hicks, Mary Beth Fanto (Clyde Cady), the late Roger (the late Betty) Blumer, and the late Edward Blumer, as well as a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and an even more extraordinary grandfather. Nothing brought him greater happiness than his grandchildren. He treasured every moment with them, and they were the true joy of his life.

Richard lived with a generous heart, always putting the needs of others before his own. Bringing joy to the people he loved was what brought him the greatest joy. He led his family by example, consistently choosing what was right over what was easy. His highest priority was ensuring his family was loved, supported, and cared for. He devoted his time, energy, and love to every member of his family, often setting aside his own plans and wishes for their happiness and well-being.

An avid Chicago White Sox fan, Richard was also the founder and operator of BREM Construction Company for 35 years. He will be remembered not simply for what he built through his work, but for the life, family, and legacy he built through love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion.

Richard’s life was a reminder that a person’s true legacy is not measured by what they achieve for themselves, but by what they give to others. His example will continue to guide his family, and the love he gave so freely will remain with them always.
