Richard Alan Blazyk

Richard Alan Blazyk, born June 20, 1948, in Chicago, peacefully passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family.

Rich was the beloved son of the late Charlotte Blaszczyk and Zygmunt Blaszczyk and brother to Allen Blazyk. He was the devoted husband of Kathryn Blazyk, his beloved “honey,” with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of just shy of 55 years. He was the loving father of Brian, Kevin and his wife Shannon, and Diane and her husband Frank, and the proud grandfather of Tyler, Brandon, Natalie, Zoe, Noah, Layla, and Jacob, each of whom brought him immense joy and held a very special place in his heart.

Rich graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and went on to build a remarkable career as a business owner. For 52 years, he owned and operated Constant Electric Supply Co., dedicating much of his life to his work and building lasting relationships along the way. Through his work, and through the way he lived his life, Rich lit the way for many.

Music was one of Rich's earliest passions. He loved rock and roll and was a talented drummer and lead singer in the band “Banana and His Bunch.” Music brought him joy and created friendships and memories that remained an important part of his life.

Upon retirement in 2018, he enjoyed traveling from Illinois to Florida, where he met many new friends and enjoyed playing golf and cruising around in his golf cart.

But above all else, Rich was the best dad anyone could hope for. He welcomed everyone and made sure they felt right at home. Family and friends meant the world to him.

Rich had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making ordinary moments feel special. His favorite phrase, “Isn’t this a nice party we’re having!”, perfectly captured his love of being surrounded by the people he cared about. He loved having a full house, being with family and friends, sharing stories, listening to music, and simply enjoying the moment.

Rich leaves behind a lifetime of love, friendships and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed. His legacy lives on through his family and all whose lives were touched by his love and kindness. He will be missed more than words can express and be loved forever.

We will gather at a later date to celebrate Rich’s remarkable life, the memories he gave us, and, of course, the many “nice parties” we were lucky enough to share with him.
