Rheinhard "Rheine" Grischow, 92, of Barlett, went home to his heavenly father on May 11, 2026. Rheine was born on August 21, 1933, the son of George and Alice (Finke) Grischow. Beloved husband of 70 years to Maralyn (nee Fischer); loving father of Gayle (Bill) Srch and Dale (Marjie) Grischow; proud grandfather of Michael Srch, Scott (Diva Ward) Srch, Allison (Sterling Long) Grischow; and Becca (John MacNeil) Grischow. He is survived by his sister Lois (nee Grischow) Gomes and sister-in-law Eunice Grischow. He is preceded in death by siblings Howard (Dorothy) Grischow, Lorraine (Jerry) Backes, Vern Grischow, Orland (Joanne) Grischow, Florence (Richard) Smith, Leonard (Lois) Grischow, and Jack Gomes. Rheine was also a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Rheine was raised with his seven siblings on their family farm, and he enjoyed playing in a band with his brothers. He served in the US Army and had a long career as an agent with the Farm Bureau and Country Companies. His most valued positions by far were those of husband, father, and grandfather.
Rheine was a jack of all trades and a master of all, as capable of a fisherman as he was a farmer, gardener, hunter, card player, and carpenter. He was always willing to lend a hand, helping countless family and friends with carpentry projects. Rheine built a fishing cabin in Green Lake, Wisconsin, as a gift to his family and four grandchildren, who continue to make treasured family memories there and carry on Rheine's love of the outdoors.
Rheinhard was truly a friend to all and an avid Chicago sports fan, perhaps best known for his devotion to Chicago Cubs baseball. He never missed a ball game, and even in the final days of his life, Rheine could recite the Cubs starting lineup from any year, proudly announcing, "the Cubs will never have a bigger fan than me.”
